Mint cased WW1 Canadian memorial crossTo- LIEUT.M.B.W.SMITH-REWSEMeyrick Bingham Whistler Smith-Rewse was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire & went on to become the resident engineer for the Canadian Pacific railroad company. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 22-5-1915 serving with the 8th Canadian Infantry. He was mentioned in despatches for services in France a month after his death 22-6-1915 & is buried in the Guards cemetery at Windy corner, Quinchy. He was the son of Colonel H.W.Smith-Rewse.C.V.O.The cross is GVF/NEF & the box is clean & tidy but shows minor signs of use & age. With copy CEF service papers & copy photo & obituary from the Wellington college year book 1915.
