Description

Original prewar German miner's tunic. Wool and velvet trim. The metal insignia on one sleeve is broken. No lining. Some small holes. Light fading along the collar and shoulders.The chest measures about 42' and the neck is about 16'.The NSDAP established a National Bureau of Mines (Bergbau) in October 1936 to oversee mining functions and distribution of essential raw materials. The Bergbau consisted of all previously organized state and individual mining associations. The parade dress uniforms of the earlier mining associations were standardized with minor modifications including new position insignia.
