Sold
$250.00

Description

Original era manufacture. Tall pattern kepi blue wool Kepi, with a yellow wool band and piping. Gilded finish, stamped brass star at front center. The sweatband is intact, however only the crown portion of the blue cloth lining remains intact. There is some considerable mothing at the lower edge of the hat, but very little on the top or sides. I suppose if you have to have moth damage, that is the best place for it to be. The visor is sound and still securely stitched to the body of the hat and the patent leather chinstrap is also sound and present. Scarce hat as worn during the 1880's in Imperial Japan.
