The recipient Divaka Singh was a Rajputana Rajput of the Hindu faith holding the rank of Naik (Corporal) while serving with the 11th Rajputs an infantry regiment of the Bengal Presidency ArmyReference: Reference 'British Battles & Medals' (Spink, seventh edition, 2006) the 11th Rajputs are confirmed as entitled to the medal and clasp for 'Waziristan 1901-02'In 1922 the 11th Rajputs were restyled as 5th Battalion 7th Rajput Regiment of the British Indian Army. In August 1945, 7 Rajput, dropped the numeric prefix, and simply became the Rajput Regiment. In 2025, the descendent unit of 5/Rajput continues to thrive as 5/Rajput in the Indian ArmyCondition: GVF
