Medal & Clasp Verification: The medal and clasp to Private Hobson is confirmed as entitled per the respective campaign medal roll for the Army Ordnance Corps referenced below:- QSA Medal with clasp 'Cape Colony': WO 100/233 . The medal roll compiled & signed at Pretoria, South Africa on, 6 September 1901Abraham Hobson son Abrham Hobson (who resided at Shop Street, Drogheda) was a native of the parish of St. Peters, Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. He was 18 years of age, and prior employed as a 'Clerk' when he enlisted in the British Army at Dundalk, Ireland, on 16 January 1888. On joining the British Army he was posted to the Royal Irish Fusiliers, and after completing his basic training was posted to 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers. He transferred to the Army Ordnance Store Corps on, 3 September 1890. He was posted to the Army Reserve on, 16 January 1895, and was recalled to 'The Colours' when mobilized for overseas service on, 9 October 1899. Abrham re-joined his old corps, the Army Ordnance Corps and served overseas in South Africa between 18 November 1899 until 20 December 1900 (1 year 33 days). Abraham Hobson took his final discharge from the British Army on,15 January 1901, by which time he had served a total of 13 years reckonable service towards pensionThe recipients service papers (WO/97 file series) are extant and accessible at The National ArchivesCondition: GVF
