Police Constable John Collins (Warrant No 83361) is confirmed serving with 'E' or 'Holborn' Division of the Metropolitan Police in 1901 (The National Census for England & Wales refers) - recorded as John Collins, Police Constable, resident at 33 Liverpool Street, parish of St. Pancras, LondonJohn Benjamin Collins, eldest son of George Collins (a Farmer) and Catherine Louisa Collins (nee Burgess) was a native of, Tenterden, Kent, England, where he was born on. 23 September 1873. He was 22 years of age and measured 5 feet 11 & 3/4 inches in height, when he joined the Metropolitan Police in London at New Scotland Yard, on, 4 November 1895. John served a total of 26 years 59 days with the Metropolitan Police by the time he took his discharge to pension on, 2 January 1922. 8 February 1924. John retired as a 'Warrant Officer'. His record of service in the several divisions in which he served are as under:- 'E' Division: 04/11/1895 to 29/03/1903 Police Constable- 'P' Division: 30/03/1903 to 22/08/1916 Police Constable- 'P' Division: 23/08/1916 to 27/02/1921 Police Sergeant- 'Z' Division: 28/02/1921 to 02/01/1922 Police Sergeant (Warrant Officer)John Benjamin Collins was married to Amelia Alice Collins (nee, a native of Tenterden, Kent) and in 1922, John's extant Metropolitan Police Pension record that he was residing with his wife at, 17 Crampton Road, Penge, S.E. 20. At the time of the compilation of the 1939 National Register for England & Wales, John Benjamin Collins was described as a Police Sergeant retired and residing at Penge, Kent, together with his second wife Margaret Collins (nee Dent) and daughter Bessie M Collins (b. 1903, employed as a Clerk at The War Office). John Benjamin Collins of, 69 Tremaine Road, Anerley, Kent, England, is recorded to have died on 24 October 1952Condition: VF
