This is an attractive example of an - actually quite unusally seen! - golden-bronze-toned, so-called: 'Einzelspange' (or single-pieced medal-bar) showing a WWI-period: 'FrontkÀmpferkreuz 1914-18 mit Schwertern' (ie.: 'Kriegsteilnehmerkreuz 1914-18 mit Schwertern') that comes with an (unusally seen!) swords-device attached and that has (I deem) been hardly used- nor worn. The piece is a detailed- and/or zinc- ie. 'Feinzink'-based, specimen that is neatly maker-marked on its back: it bears the makers'-designation: 'O & B' (as can be seen on the pictures). The detail on this example is extraordinary: it has never been cleaned nor polished and has an attractive and somewhat 'darkened'- (ie. tarnished) age-patina. The medal is 'mounted' onto a chromed-steel-based clasp that its neatly 'backed' with greyish-coloured wool (with functional pin/catch) as was intended for wearing this example on a 'going-out'- ie. dress-tunic or 'Waffenrock'. This example retains pronounced details and has a great ie. only minimally darkened- ie. tarnished age-patina: it truly retains all of its bronze-toned finish (as can be seen on the pictures). The multi-coloured ribbon shows only minimal usage and/or staining. It should be mentioned that it is actually quite unusual to find a: 'FrontkÀmpferkreuz 1914-18 mit Schwertern' mounted as an: 'Einzelspange'!
