WWII German Air Gunner/Flight Engineer Badge by Juncker
Ships from: United States
WWII German Air Gunner/Flight Engineer Badge by Juncker-The Air Gunners and Flight Engineers Badge was introduced on April 25, 1944 and was awarded to Luftwaffe personnel acting in capacity of air gunners that had taken part in at least ten combat operations. In lieu of this criterion, personnel could qualify if they had been wounded in the course of these combat operations. The recipients of these badges had not qualified for the Air Gunners Badge but were instead replacing air gunners who suffered high rate of casualties in the closing stages of the War. On this zinc example, the wreath has lost the majority of its original silver finish, but displays a handsome tone and strong details. The eagle has also lost all of its original gilt finish but has a darker tone making it stand out from the wreath, very nice. The eagle is extremely secure to the wreath with two rivets. There is a round, needle pin rotating on a long barrel hinge. The round wire catch is soldered directly to the badge. The back side of the eagle is stamped 'C.E. Juncker, Berlin'. Very good and desirable!
