RARE example of a 2ND PATTERN WW2 British commando knife with the RARE RIBBED & ROPED GRIP. The hilt & crossguard are directly cast onto the tang and the sides of the guard are squared rather than the normal oval.. The hilt retains it's original blackened finish with the roped lines in a lighter grey..6 5/8 inch blade with much original finish BUT WITH THE TIP BROKEN OFF and slightly reshaped.In brown leather scabbard with rivetted leather belt frog section and leather sew on tabs at the sides. Original elastic retainer strip present but worn and broken, Overall in very good, Grade 8++ condition. The damage to the tip reflected in the price of this knife which is probably rarer thana 1st patternFS knife. Please refer to the reference book BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH mCLITARY KNIVES BY RON FLOOK.
