US Indian Wars, Spanish American War, Issue Canteen

Original era manufacture. US M1878 Canteen with a tan canvas cover with a clearUS stencil. The cover is lightly stained from service use, and you can feel some shallow dents in the body, but overall it is very sound, with tight stitching, no tears, and a partial cork stopper with chain.Attached to the canteen is a periodblack bridle leather shoulder strap, which, while not issue, is the proper length, and certainly looks period to the canteen and has the proper brass wire hooks on each end. This we added from our box of 'extras' to allow the canteen to be used for display.
