MG34/42 'Patronenkasten 41' used as Toolbox

MG34 or MG42 Ammunition Box (Patronenkasten 41). The M34 ammo cases were originally developed for use with the MG34, and held up to three hundred rounds of the 7.92mm ammunition. The M34 and M41 cases were used through-out the war with minor construction variations and were adopted for use with the MG42 on its introduction. This case is a late war steel example having nice tan coloured paint visible beneath an overpaint and heavy traces of usage and some surface rust. The box is nicely marked with 'Patr.Kast.41.f.M.G.', I could not find a maker marking. The box is having soldered on loops to attach a lock, probably used as (vehicle) toolbox during or after the war. Nice box in heavily used condition!
