A rare original circa early 20th century period 'Great Western Railway Social & Educational Union lapel badge' large ornate embossed gilt oval, bearing blue enamel title surround 'GT. WESTERN RLY SOCIAL & EDUCATIONAL UN., the central raised enamel plaque depicting a steam train; the reverse impressed with early maker's details 'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd London'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no enamel loss, gilt finish remains bright.Height approx 31mm.
