Original Third Reich Wochenspruch der NSDAP Propaganda Poster Featuring Adolf Hitler Quote-This is an original National Socialist propaganda poster from theWochenspruch der NSDAP('Weekly Quotation of the Nazi Party') series, featuring two shields overlapping each other with a oakleaf in between them. One shield is for the DAF and the national eagle for the Heer/Wehrmacht. A quotation attributed to Adolf Hitler is below. It is dated June 1942. The poster appears to have been period hung and removed, has two small holes in the bottom corners for tacks, does have damage at the top, which appears to shorten it and on one side with one medium rip and little rips. Dimensions are approximately 34 x 24 cm.The quote reads:The German people and their soldiers are working and fighting today not only for themselves and their time, but for future, even distant generations. -ADOLF HITLERTheWochenspruch der NSDAPwas a weekly wall poster issued by the Nazi Party from 1937 to 1944, designed to promote ideological education through impactful quotations. Approximately 1,100 different posters were produced, with some published centrally by theReichspropagandaleitungand others issued by local party offices across variousGaus(districts). In addition to quotes from Adolf Hitler and other Party leaders, the posters also featured statements from prominent figures in German history such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Carl von Clausewitz, Otto von Bismarck, and Friedrich Schiller. These posters were prominently displayed in public spaces such as town halls, schools, offices, restaurants, and medical clinics.Historian Jeffrey Herf estimates that roughly 32.5 million copies were printed from September 1939 until the series ended, highlighting the regime's widespread use of printed media for ideological dissemination—especially aimed at those not directly involved in formal Party indoctrination sessions.Early editions were often printed in Fraktur typeface, though later issues transitioned to more modern typefaces. As noted by anti-Nazi diarist Friedrich Kellner, the posters were produced on high-quality paper despite wartime shortages and rationing—underscoring their perceived importance by the regime.
