Description
Original German WWII 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger By Paul Weyersberg-This authentic 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger was produced by Paul Weyersberg & Co., one of the renowned Solingen bladesmiths, during the mid-1930s. A fine example of the early Luftwaffe dress dagger, it features white aluminum fittings on both the hilt and scabbard—typical of this model.Blade:The blade remains in near mint to excellent condition, showing only light runner marks and a few minor gray spots along the edge. The reverse ricasso is etched with the 'PAUL WEYERSBERG & Co. / SOLINGEN' double-oval trademark, complete with the sword-and-wreath logo, which still retains traces of original Moroccan blue coloring in the etching. The blade also bears a Luftwaffe Waffenamt (military acceptance) stamp, further confirming its authenticity. The leather buffer pad is present and well-preserved.Scabbard:The blue Moroccan leather-wrapped scabbard is straight, tight, and structurally sound. There are a few minor scrapes to the leather surface, most likely from age and handling over time. Despite this, the scabbard retains a strong appearance with nicely preserved aluminum fittings. The scalloped mounts are undamaged and secure. With a bit of careful restoration—such as the use of modern Moroccan blue leather polish—the original appearance could be greatly enhanced.Fittings & Grip:The grip is wrapped in premium Moroccan blue leather and remains in excellent condition, tightly bound with double aluminum wire. The aluminum pommel and crossguard are in great shape, each featuring gold-gilded sun wheels, all of which retain 100% of their original finish. All fittings are solid and show only minimal signs of age.Hanger:The dagger comes complete with its original aluminum chain hanger and belt clip, both intact and functional. The clip is stamped 'DRGM' and marked with an 'A', the standard logo of Assmann, a well-known Third Reich medal/awards and hardware manufacturer. This is a solid, complete, and well-preserved example of a German WWII 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger by Paul Weyersberg & Co. With its clean blade, original blue leather grip and scabbard, gold-highlighted fittings, and marked hanger, this piece is a strong addition to any Luftwaffe or Third Reich edged weapon collection.
