Description
Original German WWII Heer Officer's Dagger By Carl EickhornWith Portopee-This is an original German WWII Army (Heer) officer's dagger, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn, one of the most respected and sought-after Solingen blade makers of the period. The dagger features classic mid-war fittings with a silvered finish and comes complete with its original portopee.Fittings & Grip:The crossguard features the distinctive Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika, showing fine detail with only minor age toning. The deep orange celluloid grip remains in excellent condition, free from cracks or chips, and shows only minimal age-related wear. Both the pommel and ferrule retain sharp detailing and a lightly aged patina, consistent with wartime manufacture.Blade:The blade is in excellent condition, showing minimal wear and comes to a nice point. It retains much of its original bright finish with light gray spotting and faint runner marks typical of normal draw wear. The reverse of the blade is etched with the Carl Eickhorn seated squirrel logo, positioned near the ricasso. The edges are clean and the blade remains tight to the hilt.Scabbard:The scabbard retains its original silvered finish with finely detailed pebbling on both sides. There is some light tarnishing throughout, giving it a uniform, aged appearance. The silvering appears to have dulled slightly with time, though the surface still presents well. The scabbard throat screw remains intact and undisturbed, and the scabbard itself is straight and structurally sound.Portepee:The included original portopee is in excellent condition, showing only minimal age toning and minor staining. The bullion wire remains bright and tightly woven, with the knot properly tied around the guard in regulation fashion. It has clearly been well-preserved over the years. This is a well-preserved example of a German WWII Heer officer's dagger by Carl Eickhorn, complete with original portopee. With its clean blade, desirable maker mark, detailed fittings, and vibrant grip, this piece offers both historical value and strong display appealβa fine addition to any collection of Third Reich edged weapons.
