Description
Original German WWII General Assault Badge Unmarked-The General Assault Badge (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen) was a military decoration awarded during World War II to personnel of the German Army, Waffen-SS, and Ordnungspolizei who participated in infantry assaults but were not part of standard infantry units, making them ineligible for the Infantry Assault Badge. It was instituted by General Walther von Brauchitsch on June 1, 1940.Designed by Wilhelm Peekhaus of Berlin, the badge is oval-shaped, measuring approximately 5.3 cm by 4.2 cm, with a depth of 0.6 cm. It features a raised wreath of five oak leaves along each side, joined at the base by a pair of acorns. At the center is a prominent Wehrmacht-style eagle with folded wings clutching a swastika, positioned above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade. The badge was affixed to the uniform via a pin and catch on the reverse and worn on the left chest pocket. This authentic example is a zinc construction award with most of its silver finish worn off due to age or wear. It is a solid-backed version and remainsunmarked, with no maker's stamp. The pin and catch are intact. The badge retains excellent detail and remains in verygood condition.
