Original German WWII Police Officer's Sword By WKC (Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co.) With SS Marked Blade & PortepeeThis is an original German WWII Police Officer's Sword, manufactured by WKC (Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co.). This model, known as the Polizei-Degen, was introduced following Heinrich Himmler's 1936 decree that placed all German police forces under SS authority. Though not intended for combat use, the sword was worn as a symbol of rank and affiliation with the SS-controlled police.Hilt, Grip & Portepee:The nickel-plated D-shaped guard retains excellent detail, showing only minor wear consistent with age. The grip is composed of wood covered in black celluloid and remains in solid condition, with tight wire wrapping seated securely in the grooves.Inlaid into the grip is the aluminum Polizei eagle and swastika emblem, which is firmly attached and still shows sharp detail.The original portepee with acorn knot is included and is exceptionally well-preserved. The silver and green threading remains vibrant with minimal fraying or wear, a rarity on swords of this age.Blade:The nickel-plated steel blade is full-length and in excellent condition, exhibiting a bright, mirror-like finish with only minor runner marks from typical draw and return to the scabbard.The front ricasso bears the WKC knight's helmet logo, confirming manufacture by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. The reverse ricasso is clearly stamped with the SS marking, indicating issue to SS personnel or an SS-controlled police unit — a highly desirable and less commonly encountered feature.There are no signs of sharpening, damage, or corrosion, indicating the sword was carefully handled and stored.Scabbard:The scabbard remains straight and free of dents or bends. It retains the majority of its original black enamel finish, showing only light surface wear, scattered scratches, and some age-related spidering.Hanger:Not included.This SS-marked Police Officer's Sword complete with its original scabbard and portepee, remains in excellent condition considering its age and service history.
