Original German WWII Heer (Army) Officer's Lion Head Sword By EickhornThis is an original German WWII Heer Officer's sword, manufactured by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. These swords were worn by Heer Officers as a symbol of rank and tradition, usually during formal occasions and parades.Hilt & Grip:The hilt showcases a lions head with red ruby eyes and nicely detailed fittings. The lion's head pommel is made of aluminum, with a gold gilt finish that shows some light wear to the high points. The original leather buffer washer is present.The black celluloid handle is clean with no cracks or chips. Tight, crisp silver wire wrapping that's 2 pieces twisted bordered by 2 horizontal wires.Blade:The nickel-plated steel blade is full-length and beautifully preserved, exhibiting a bright, subdued finish with only minor runner marks from being sheathed and unsheathed. The ricasso is maker-marked with the seated squirrel logo signifying it was produced by 'Carl Eickhorn, Solingen', confirming Third Reich era. There is no evidence of sharpening, damage, or corrosion, indicative of careful storage and handling.Scabbard:The scabbard has no bends or dents, and retains most of the original black enamel paint finish, with some minor spidering, age and handling wear and scratches.Hanger & Portepee:Not included.This Eickhorn Heer officer's sword, complete with its original scabbard, remains in very good condition considering its age and use. A solid and attractive example, well-suited for any WWII German edged weapon or Heer collection.
