Killer Waffen-SS Officer's Crusher

This cap is a fine, early example of the iconic 'crusher' favored by SS officers in the early years of the war. The earliest, with the cloth bill, were followed by this design, which features a coated fabric or mor commonly, coated rawhide bill. These show crazing after much exposure to weather and other war conditions- as well as age. The lining is the early style black satin-like cotton, and the sweatband is the late '30s style of coated fabric (imitation leather), a very correct feature for this vintage of crusher. The body is the feldgrau wool of the M36-M40 tunic color and is white piped. The characteristically narrow cap band is officer quality 'feintuch.' The adler is flatwire, hand applied (these were issued with metal insignia, but individuals would decorate them with flatwire and even BeVo in many cases). The skull is a Zimmermann Pattern, with a repaired prong. Hats like these, especially showing service wear but not torn apart, are rare to encounter. For the finest SS display, COA accompanies.
