Description
Unissued pre-war overcoat for an SS-TV/VT UnterfĂźhrer, high quality double breasted garment having slashed hip pockets with flaps, turn back cuffs, and vented rear skirt, coat is made of fine pre war issue quality black wool and is lined in and has pocket bags of ribbed black treated cotton, there is one large internal breast pocket, inside the pocket is a machine sewn oilcloth SS RZM label with the legend Mantel SS, the coat's lining is also stamped in white ink with size markings and VA 1938 in a rectangle, the lower left inner skirt's black wool has an off white block stamping N.S.D.A.P and with SS runes in a circle, parallel to that is a circular stamp in red ink and the number 6 can be read, in addition two paper tags are attached, the first to the left lower cuff with black thread, it has the size markings repeated and entered via pen, the second tag is attached to on of the rear strap buttons with a piece of cord and is stamped SS Sturm 11/63 with additional information below, the single NCO rank shoulder board has a paper RZM tag glued to the reverse, the shoulder board has black and silver metallic cording on a black wool base and is sewn into the shoulder seam, it is held by a small SS RZM silver pebbled button, all of the larger silver pebbled buttons are marked in the same way, in addition, the small silver pebbled buttons used to fasten the rear skirt are RZM marked, the plastic buttons positioned under the collar for holding the neck tab have the DAF cogwheel, the collar is piped in black and silver twisted cord, the left sleeve has a multi piece SS wool armband and it was neatly stitched, most likely during the coat's production, along its entire perimeter, coat is unissued and has never had collar patches or a sleeve band applied, with the exception of some slight yellowing to the paper tags condition is immaculate, skirt was never hemmed, this very example is depicted on page 45 of the book SS Uniforms, Insignia & Accoutrements by Arthur Hayes (1996), spectacular, USD $12,850
