A RARE SHORT DRESS BAYONET WITH A 'MEMORY OF MY SERVICE TIME' ETCHED BLADE BY E.P & S.

Description

These etched dress bayonets by Ernst Pack are highly collectable and many are very rare indeed, and difficult to find. EP& S (Stocker & Co) were one of the few companies to offer a vast array of designs for their 'Memory of my Service Time' etches. Eickhorn also offered quite a few, but not go the extent and variety of designs Ernst Pack did. This is a scarce example of one of the Luftwaffe etched designs. It is on a short pattern dress bayonet with a carbine type blade. The etch consists of a central panel with an oak leaf design at one end and a small bi-plane at the other flying across an oak leaf design. The quality of the etch is so good, you can easily see the German crosses on the wings! The blade is in stone mint condition with deep and crisp etching with a light grey background.Amazing workmanship! The reverse riccasso has the larger desirable EP&S trademark of Siegfried Waffen with the large 'S' etc. The exterior of the bayonet is very good. Original paint to the scabbard. The hilt has dulled a little but still has most of the original plating and the original yellow (Flight section) felt plug in the mortice slot. Perfect chequered grips with the typical off-set grip bolts only used by EP&S.This exact etch is on page 148 of Wayne Tychet's excellent book 'German Etched Dress Bayonets'.
