Fine quality Heer Gebirgsjäger Infanterie officer visored cap manufactured by the Clemens Wagner firm, clean and appealing with high peak, the cap body is made of fine quality field grey colored wool, the cap band is of dark green badge cloth wool, the piping is also of wool and the crown piping is of a slightly wider diameter, the black composite visor has fine surface cracking but is absent chipping, the metallic silver chin cord is held with two silver pebbled buttons, the national emblem is of aluminum and is held with prongs, the Edelweiss badge's stamen is of darkened brass and it too is attached with prongs, the cap badges do not appear to have ever been moved or replaced and are long seated in place, the prongs do not penetrate the lining and there are no extra prong holes, the bullion wreath and multi piece rosette are attached with thick black cotton thread, internally cap lining is of a tan colored rayon, the celluloid sweat diamond has the CW logo with the legend 'Erstklassig', having a brown colored leather sweatband which shows wear and is split at the right forehead, estimate size 58, externally the cap exhibits little wear and is quite clean, there are two small moth nips to the caps' right, one to the body below the crown piping and another to the lower edge below the chin cord button, additional there is a almost invisible plug to a hole at the cap's top rear, superior appearance, USD $1650 SOLD
