Description

Heer M40 single decal western Südfront camouflaged helmet, compelling helmet to which the left side is scratched the following: El Guettar March 23 - 43, Sicily July 14 - 43, these dates correspond to the battles at the Mareth Line in Tunisia and to the Allied invasion of Sicily, interestingly these scratches are made in the 'upside down' position either side of the overpainted Heer decal, the factory finish was covered by hand painting in an overall tan color, over that were painted sections of olive green and red brown colors, there are minor scratches and chips but the painted surfaces are mostly intact and the pins still have a high degree of their paint, she is stamped ET64, lot number is 1263, with steel liner bands, unmolested pins and washers, leather liner has darkened and has blackish spots but is still fairly flexible, the drawstring remains in place and the size stamping looks to be 56, the full length leather chinstrap is faintly maker marked and is a bit stiff, no effort has been made to unbuckle it, amazing camo, USD $4250 SOLDhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_El_Guettarhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allied_invasion_of_Sicily
