Description
Luftwaffe M38 double decal camouflaged Fallschirmjäger helmet, example having seen considerable service use, the factory apple green finish was subtly over painted in spots with a slightly different shade of smooth green paint, when this was done particular effort was made to cover the decals, only traces of these camouflaged areas remain otherwise, externally the factory paint exhibits much wear, both to the side of the helmet and, especially, to the top, the spanner bolts have remnants of their smooth green paint, approximately 70% of the national colors shield is visible, perhaps 20% of the eagle decal may be seen, internally helmet has aluminum liner bands and the early style pads which have suffered over time from heat and have, to some degree melted, a situation now arrested, the leather liner and chinstrap are original to the helmet, the former complete but darkened, the size block stamping is faintly discernible, harness is complete but has a couple of sections of peeling, PRYM snap is operational, the former wearer's name Gef. X is painted to the inner rim in white, shell stamp is ET68, lot number is 4068, lots of history with this one, USD $13,750 SOLD
