Description
Imperial Waffenrock for an EM in the 10th Hanoverian Jäger Battalion with Gibraltar sleeveband circa 1890-1914, the Gibraltar sleeveband was authorized by the German Imperial Army to commemorate combat service as part of the Allied forces in Spain against Napoleon, garment is constructed of dark green wool and has stand collar, shoulder straps and cuffs of red colored wool, the front closure and tail decorations are piped in red colored wool, the front has eight plain smooth brass buttons, two additional are attached to each cuff and six others are positioned at the tail decoration, the collar is unadorned, each shoulder strap has the numerals 10 chain stitched embroidered in yellow thread, the shoulder strap buttons are with the number 2, the right lower cuff has the originally hand sewn Gibraltar sleeveband, it is hand embroidered in yellowfins cord on medium blue wool, lining is of ribbed black cotton, there is an internal wasitbelt with clasp, there is one internal breast pocket and two hidden tail pockets, garment is in amazing condition considerings its age, collar is a bit stiff, there is soiling to the inner collar and separation to its upper edge, there are a few scattered moth holes to the wool including the rear sleeve band seam area, the reverse of the left cuff also has a few small moth holes, there is minor matting to sections of the wool, sections of the lining seams have come undone, the Jäger green uniform was the field uniform before 1910, then it became the dress uniform with the introduction of field gray combat uniforms, strong appearance for such a rare uniform, USD $850 SOLD
