Description

One of a kind 'fish scale' M16 camouflaged helmet with replaced full liner and chinstrap, with uniquely elaborate hand painted camouflage pattern in the shape of overlapping fish scale shapes extending from the helmet's top to the lower edge using dark green, medium green, chocolate brown and tan colors, the pattern is reminiscent of patterns seen applied to WWI German aircraft, overall paint coverage is estimated at 95%, internally the helmet has the standard factory green finish, the shell stamp is not clear but may be W66, liner bands are of steel, the liner itself and the chinstrap have been restored and at least two liner pins were removed to do this, the light grey colored leather liner has two of three liner pads and a black drawstring, three fingers are torn at the drawstring holes but the leather is still quite supple and no parts are missing, the brown leather adjustable chinstrap is worn but complete although it had separated at one time (approximately at the chin position) and was repaired with a small square of dark brown leather, restored internally but still quite distinctive, USD $1500 SOLD
