JLA1 Complete grouping of a Canadian Airborne NCO, ensemble belonging formerly to one of the first 27 Canadians sent to jump school at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA, includes American made M1942 jump uniform set, jump boots, leather helmet, googles, duffel bag and documents, the uniform is constructed of heavy weight khaki colored cotton, the jacket features four bellowed front pockets with double snaps, the upper two chest pockets are angled for easy access and the lower two side pockets are in an upright position with basic cover flaps, the jacket's reverse is pleated and a waist belt is included, the underarms are vented, there are built is shoulder straps, there is a 3/4 length brass zipper marked Conmar, collar and cuffs have two snaps each, shoulders have machine applied Airborne Canada patches and the left breast has parachutist wings, also machine applied, the former owner's name is written in ink in the back, the trousers are lined at the waist in white cotton and have a button fly, two slash pockets and one buttoned rear pocket, the side pockets are bellowed and are closed with two snaps, both pieces are in lightly worn condition, the brown leather jumpmaster's helmet is lined in suede and is stamped with the maker, all buckles and fittings are present, the former owner's name is written in ink, the goggles with elasticized strap also include the former owner's name, the lenses are crazed and cracked, the canvas duffle bag has owner's name and 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion applied in black ink, also included are the soldier's American made brown leather jump boots, these are service worn but are in excellent condition and were resoled in the Canadian fashion to eliminate the beveled edges and polished in the desired 'ox-blood' color, finally are the documents including a framed War Bond advertisement with photo of Sgt. Harris with comrades, an accompanying ring binder holds color and black and white photos, newspaper clippings, typewritten training instructions, roster list, an extra pair of wings and color photos of the lot, Harris eventually served as cadre for the jump school in Shilo, Manitoba, very rare, interesting and clean grouping worthy of further research, please inquire to info@virtualgrenadier.com for additional information, USD $5500 SOLD
