A rare original circa 1938 period 'Regal and Guardian Cinema Guild pin badge'; large gilt blue enamel title surround, the centre depicting an embossedbudgerigar bird on a swing, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'Vaughtons Ltd Birm'. Very good condition, compete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, minor service wear to centre highpoint.Diameter approx 27mm.The Regal and Guardian Cinema was based in Boston Lincolnshire and was a joint venture of the Regal Cinema and the Boston Guardian newspaper. Founded in February 1938 the guild was a Saturday Morning Cinema club. Members known as OODOO's had to be over 5 years old and on joining would be presented with a badge and secret password.It continued to run during WW2 with announcements to members being made in the Boston Guardian.
