Original era manufacture. A very nice example of a large size pistol cartridge box, as made for the 1860 Colt Army pistol. Clear makers markings on the flap. J.DAVY & CO. NEWARK N.J. Original varnish finish remains on the leather surfaces, minor wear to the edges, it has not been oiled, and the leather remains pliable. Minor flaking to the surface in spots, all in all a very solid example.
