WWII German Waffen SS Model 1943 Field Cap-This is a great example, private purchase in Italian gabardine that is very clean. There is very minor wear only. The side flaps terminate at the front with a pair of smooth, wooden buttons. The insignia is machine woven. Both the eagle on the left side and the Totenkopf at the front are silvery grey cloth over black rayon. Each is neatly hand applied. The interior is fully lined in a purplish rayon that has minor wear only. There is a tan ersatz leather sweatband. It is extremely stiff, cracked and missing a few chunks. It is ink stamped with the size but most of the second number is missing. I am guessing that based on what is left and the actual physical size that it is a 54. This is a scarce and desirable example!
