German WWII S84/98 Bayonet & Frog, Mismatch

Available
$225.00

Description

Original period manufacture. An interesting WWII K98 bayonet in that the entire metal surface has a gloss black paint finish. No idea who did the painting, wartime or postwar, but there it is. The nitty-gritty details are it is mismatched, the blade is maker marked cof (Eickhorn) and dated 44. Lots of original finish remains on the blade in addition to the characteristic milling marks from the factory. Dark plum bakelite grips in good repair, waffenamt proofs on the pommel, and an operable lock button. Dent free scabbard body, again with the gloss black paint finish, serial number 9245. I don't want to risk damaging the frog so I haven't stressed the leather to check the maker, it won't match anyway. The frog is pretty nice, no loose stitching, the pommel strap is not weak and all the rivets are in place. Faint maker code on the reverse.
