Flag of Iraq (1921-1958)-This is a vintage flag from the kingdom of Iraq. It consists of three horizontal bands of black, white, and green, with a red trapezoid extending from the hoist side. This features two seven-pointed white stars. This design was a variation of the Arab Revolt flag and symbolized the Hashemite dynasty, which ruled Iraq during that period. The Hashemite monarchy (King Faisal) was largely established by the British to create a pro-Western government in Iraq, but it also faced opposition from various groups, including Kurds and Shia Muslims. The two stars represent both the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and also the two major communities of the time, the Arabs and the Kurds. This design was used from 1921 until the 1958 revolution which abolished the monarchy. This particular flag measures 66 ยฝ inches (168.91cm) long and 47 ยฝ inches (120.65cm) wide, so approx. 5 ft. long by 3 ยฝ ft. wide (1.5mx.90m).It is in very good condition, with bright colors. It has a maker's tag for the Annin flag company which is a US family business that is still around today. An interesting offering for your flag collection.
