Sold
$225.00

Description

Original era manufacture. Standard pattern M1840 US Army NCO sword made by Ames dated 1858 on the ricasso. If my memory serves, this is the earliest dated example of this pattern sword we have owned. Very clean 32.5 inch polished steel blade with clear markings on the ricasso and a very nice dark steel patina finish. In addition to the normal Ames markings the letters NJ have been stamped into the obverse ricasso. The blade runs straight and true with a few nicks in the edge, and an even steel patina finish.Mellow brass patina finish to the guard, grip and pommel, with two sets of inspectors marks on the guard, A.D.K, and W.O.J.
