Description

Sword and metal sheath. A clean example of a patternof sword adopted in Meiji 32 (1899),in two styles, Ko, with a 32 3/4 inch blade, and Otsu, with a36 inch blade. Our example is the Ko pattern, issued to the Japanese Cavalry.The polished steel blade is very clean with no issues, and is serial numbered on the ricasso, 79634. There are Tokyo arsenal markings in the steel guard, the leather finger loop is missing.Heavy steel backstrap which displays a deep checked design, matching the original finish wooden grip.Steel patina finish to the scabbard body, displaying surface denting near the drag, the serial number does not match the blade.
