Austrian, Pre WWI Infantry Officers Sword & Knot, Weyersberg Solingen

Original era manufacture. A very nice polished steel blade measuring 28.5 inches in length, running straight and true with no issues. Etched panels on each side of the blade with Franz-Joseph's cypher and the Imperial Austrian eagle.Heavy cast brass ornately decorated guard, backstrap and pommel with a gilt finish, now a dark brass patina. Fishskin wrapped grip bound with single strand brass wire, and properly wrapped around the grip and guard is an original bullion wire sword knot, now toned from age.Metal bodied scabbard covered in thin black leather without any breaks or seam separation. Very ornate brass fittings with Franz Joseph's cypher on the scabbard throat.This is a very nice old sword, in untouched condition, never cleaned or buffed, attic fresh as some would describe.
