Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a 1960s Swiss Mathey Tissot Type 12 Aircraft Clock! Based on the WW2 German Luftwaffe Junghans Cockpit Chronograph, this was one of the last mechanical examples made, before switching to battery-powered clocks.Mounted on the main instrument panel, this clock needs no introduction. It was usually mounted on the front or side cockpit consoles and features a chronometer, adjustable bezel, and a 15-minute timer. The movement is aValjoux 555, and only 4 manufactures made this type of clock: Tissot,Sinn, Breguet, Dodane and Mathey Tissot. It has 17 jewels and one barrel supplying power for one day, the flyback function (left hand pusher), allows the chronograph to stop, start, and reset. The right hand knob allows the user to set the time and to wind the clock.Made of aluminum and steel, this Mathey Tissot Type 12 Chronograph Clock is in AMAZING used condition! It retains 98% of its original paint and sinich, and features the screw on back.Circa 1960,Some light marks and scratches throughout from age, but nothing that detracts. The dial still glows at night (must be charged with UV light), and 'Mathey Tissot' is prominent on the dial. 100% FUNCTIONAL, and keeps accurate time! One of the BEST examples I have seen of its type, I suspect it is unused. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, panel rebuild, or restoration project!
