Description
You are bidding on a SUPERB used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht Handgrenate 342/d Offensive Grenade! 100% INERT, this was originally made by Denmark, during the German occupation.Developed by the Danish and produced in Denmark, it was referred to as the 'Haandbombe Model 1923.' After German occupation, in April 1940, ordnance plants continued production using 'Handgranate 342d' (offensive) and 'Handgranate 343d' (defensive). The Danish continued production well after the end of the war; as late as 1956. The practice grenade is composed of thick steel to simulate the live weight and to make it sturdier for repeated use. A practice grenade can be identified by the small hole drilled into the body on the top cone. The end cap has a exhaust hole for the practice charge which would be inserted. The same space holds the detonator in a service grenade. After use, the grenade had to be returned to the factory for a new fuze. Each time it has entered the re-load cycle a dot is punched into the metal below the safety interrupter.Made of steel, this item is a FANTASTIC example! Some marks and wear, but retains much of its original yellow paint and finish! Dated 1942, it can be disassembled quite easily. The entire grenade measures approximately 13cm high with a 18cm diameter through the middle. It is stamped with a red twelve pointed star with a 'K' to the middle and with 'AK/B 1942' along the side. Overall a VERY NICE example, PERFECT item for any collection or display!
