Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE original WW2 Japanese Imperial Navy Type 91 Mechanical Time Fuze, as used with the 12.7cm Type 89 dual-purpose anti-aircraft gun. This example is a complete naval issue time fuze of the pattern fitted to high explosive anti-aircraft projectiles aboard Japanese warships and shore batteries during the Second World War.The Type 91 mechanical time fuze was standard equipment for the Imperial Japanese Navy's 12.7cm Type 89 Naval Gun, the primary heavy anti-aircraft weapon deployed on destroyers, cruisers, and capital ships throughout the Pacific War. These brass mechanical fuzes allowed precise time-setting prior to firing, functioning as part of the projectile system designed to detonate at a calculated point in flight against aerial targets. The Type 91 had a time setting between 0 and 55 seconds, in one second increments.Made of brass, aluminum, and steel, this Japanese Navy Type 91 Fuse is in VERY NICE condition for its age!Completely inert, it retains its original brass finish and natural patina with no dents, cracks, or corrosion! All scale markings remain clear and fully legible. The rotating setting rings are present and intact. The Imperial Japanese Navy anchor stamp is visible, along with inspection marks including Roman letter codes on the body. These fuzes were originally unpainted, and this example remains in its original factory bright brass configuration. Condition is EXCELLENT, showing only light handling wear consistent with age. Measuring approx. 3β³ x 3β³ in size, it is a scarce and desirable original Imperial Japanese Navy ordnance component suitable for display alongside 12.7cm Type 89 projectiles or naval artifacts!
