A NICE EARLY ALL BRASS WEHRMACHT OFFICERS SWORD BY ALCOSO.

Another sword from this large collection. A very good example of an officers all brass hilted 'dove head' parade sword by ALCOSO. The market for parade swords and daggers during the 1939's was huge and very competitive. All officers were required to own a dagger AND a sword for parade purposes. Each manufacturer had their own specific designs for each, so eventually there were literally 100's of different designs to choose from!This one features an all brass hilt, celluloid grip and triple wire wrap. The crossguard features a unique eagle and swastika with pointed, outstretched wings. This design features on several Alcoso swords, lions head and dove head variations. Black painted scabbard with one tiny dent to the reverse. The nickel plated blade is in very good overall shape, but may benefit from a decent polish and clean. No damage though.
