Eickhorn produced daggers are always sought after, and rightly so, the quality of their products was outstanding throughout the war, and as such have stood up to the ravages of time extremely well. This offering is no exception, being of 35-41 vintage and having the benefit of a beautifully jeweller carved name to the reverse crossguard. Name appears to be 'Eichel' and would offer the possibility of further research.Pommel is in fine condition retaining all its finish. Pumpkin coloured grip has no damage and fits the ferrule perfectly. Crossguard eagle has fine details to the wing feathering and the birds chest. The oak leaf wreath which is gripped in the birds talons retains all its background pebbling and has a crisp, raised swastica. A brown leather washer remains beneath the crossguard . Bright blade is in fine condition with no damage to edges or needle like tip. Eickhorn 35-41 trademark sits proudly on the upper reverse ricasso. Scabbard is in perfect condition, retaining all its finish and with fine, prominent pebbling to the panels. Scabbard rings are firmly attached and show much hand enhancing. A single flush mounted throat screw remains in the upper scabbard reverse.A fine example of an Army dagger with the possibility that investigation of the Army lists could unearth details of the owner.
