WW1 Family group to the Maitland-Addison brothers1) WW1 Pair To- 2-LIEUT.A.C.M.ADDISON.Arthur Chrichton Maitland-Addison first landed in France 12-8-1914 serving as 669 Cpl with the R.F.C. He was commissioned in the field 1-10-1914 in to the Cheshire regiment & was wounded 25-10-1914. He went on to die of his wounds two days later 27-10-1914 & is buried in Lijssenthoek military cemetery.2) 1914-15 starTo- LIEUT.G.R.MAITLAND-ADDISON.RMGuy Robert Maitland-Addison was commissioned 1-9-1902 & resigned his commission 30-1-1909. He was recalled to the colours in November 1914 & was discharged due to unsatisfactory conduct 27-3-1915. He went on to gain a commission in the 17th Lancashire fusiliers in August 1915 but again was forced to resign his commission due to a dishonoured cheque & his drinking problem. He finally managed to enlist as an other rank with the 18th battalion of the London Regiment / London Irish Rifles with service number 4508 & went on to transfer to the Machine Gun Corps with service number 63191. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 11-9-1917 & is buried in the Bailleul road east cemetery at St Laurent-Blangy.Both men were the sons of Major Alfred Chamberlain Maitland-Addison late of the 71st Highlanders of 12 Arundel terrace, Brighton.GVF or better & complete with very extensive research details that confirm all of the above details.
