A 100% original WW1 German M16 steel helmet with the classic three colour camouflage finish as marked out in the directive of 7/7/18 .Helmet has been camouflaged with heavy brush strokes & finger think black dividing lines ( As per Ludendorff Order of 1918) this can be examined in the closeup images where the naturally aged patina of the WW1 era paint can be clearly discerned. A soldiers name has been scratched into the rear underside of the helmet. Helmet still retains its original and often missing steel mounted leather chinstrap which , although with a very old, hardly noticeable, collector repair is a totally original WW1 period example. The liner is heavily worn with some old collector repair & detachment of leather in places. Although the maker mark is hard to read due to paint thickness the shell is a size 64 .
