WWII German Kriegsmarine Foul Weather Leather Coat/Trousers. Veteran Family Acquired-As used by U boat crews etc. This foul weather set consists of grey leather coat and trousers. Starting with the coat, which has some minor discoloration and wear from use. It remains very soft and supple. There is a five button (one missing) closure with all of the grey finished, navy anchor buttons present and marked. Interestingly, there was a period modification to this coat where the buttons were removed and reattached at the direct edge of the closure. Maybe it was too big for the wearer and this was an easy way to 'resize' it. Another period modification was the addition of a metal hook and loop closure at the neck, probably for the same reason as why the buttons were removed. Really neat! There are hip pockets and a single breast pocket on the wearers left side. The interior is fully lined in dark grey wool which has minor wear and discoloration from use. There is a single pocket inside, on the wearers right side. There is a tailor tag in the neck that has been partially cut out. What is left is the word 'Nico' and the size, 48. The pants are in a slightly darker shade of grey leather. They have some minor wear and discoloration as well. There are hip pockets. There is a four button fly with a metal hook at loop at the waist. There is a cinch strap at the back. All of the buttons for the suspenders are present. The interior is fully lined in light grey cloth. There is another partial tag inside the trousers, what is left includes the date, 10 Feb. 1942 and the size, 50. As mentioned, these were a direct family veteran acquisition by us. The name of the army soldier and information about him and his unit will be included and given to the buyer. A good set!
