Description

Original era manufacture. A very fine example of a French pattern 1822 cavalry officers sword, made by Klingenthal and dated 1829.The very clean 36 inch polished steel blade runs fairly straight, with a very slight bend to the right. No corrosion issues, and the blade is in original polish. Etched on the right side of the blade is a motto, 'Donne Par Le Roi', given by the king. Makers name and date on the spine.Brass three branch guard and pommel cap, decorated with laurel leaves, leather wrapped grip which is bound with triple strand wire.Steel patina finish scabbard with double suspension rings, relatively dent-free, and no issues with corrosion. The blade fits the scabbard properly.A very handsome looking old sword, which does not rattle as the guard is solidly affixed to the blade.
