Description

Original period manufacture. Dark blue wool body of officer quality material. Wire embroidered black velvet oval, displaying crossed sabers with a thin gold wire edging. Unbound black leather visor, adjustable black leather chinstrap with a brass eagle button on each side, both having a letter C in their center. Their are five bands of black rank trim around the cap band, on front, back, both sides, with a large quatrefoil on the crown, indicating a field grade rank of Colonel. Intact brown leather sweatband, loose in a few spots, the lining cover material is gone, painted leather disc in the crown. Clean hat, no moth issues. At the time of our purchase, there was a small silver colored number 5 above the crossed swords, you can see the white thread. This has come loose, but will be included with the hat.
