He was both born & enlisted in Bradford & first landed in Egypt with the battalion 22-12-1915. He was one of a small party of men who were sent out on a fighting patrol on the 30th of June 1916 with a view to inspect the German wire & trenches prior to the big push on the first day of the Somme 1-7-1916. He was mortally wounded during the patrol & sadly died of his wounds 30-6-1916.
