Original Early Third Reich Heer Gebirgsjäger NCO/EM Visor Cap Size 56This authentic early period cap is from the 1935-1939 time period, specifically issued to the Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troops).The cap is made of Heer fieldgray wool with a dark green band and a traditional high peak with matching green piping along the top edge and flanking either side of the band, indicating the branch to beGebirgsjäger.The fieldgray woolwith a dark green band and a traditional high peak with matching dark green wool piping along the top edge and flanking either side of the band, indicating the branch to beGebirgsjäger. The woolis in excellent condition, but has some slight stains on the top of the visor cap with some minor mothing or small holes in the front near the eagle. The 1st pattern eagle insignia and wreath with cockade still retains crisp details. The leather chinstrap with double buckles is intact and doesn't appear to be marked or dated. The black lacquered visor is still attached, but a few threads have come apart from age. The inside of the cap is in very good condition and shows some slight use and aging throughout. The lining is intact, but the original celluloid diamond appears to have been removed by the manufacture and then a smaller one was sewn in during construction of the cap. The size stamp 56 is still visible. The sweatband is slightly used and is hardly discolored. The underside of the sweatband is unit marked 'Karl Gülle Mützenfabrik Paderborn'. This confirms the cap was made in Germany during the 1930's. Overall this early Third Reich Heer cap is still in excellent condition.
