Description
Original German WWII Heer Officer's Sonderführer Visor Cap Size 58This is an authentic Heer (Army) officer's Sonderführer visor cap, finely tailored from gabardine field-gray wool with a bluish-gray band. The cap displays the classic high-peaked officer profile and is trimmed with dark green piping along the crown and band. In the Wehrmacht, green piping was normally used by Jäger (light infantry), Gebirgsjäger (mountain troops), and administrative branches; however, it was also the identifying color for Sonderführer specialists serving as interpreters, technicians, doctors, or propaganda staff. The Sonderführer system allowed skilled civilians to be brought into the Wehrmacht with officer-equivalent status. They wore the same uniform style as line officers but with distinctive insignia or colors to set them apart. The exterior of this cap is in excellent condition, with sharp, crisp details to the embroidered eagle, wreath, and national cockade. The silver bullion chin cord remains bright and intact, while the black lacquered visor is well-preserved, showing no significant cracking.Inside, the satin lining and celluloid sweat shield are present and well-maintained. The sweatband is size-stamped 58, and beneath the diamond is the maker's mark'Peküro – Stirndruckfrei – Deutsches Reichspatent.'Peküro was one of the most respected wartime cap manufacturers, and their patented Stirndruckfrei ('pressure-free on the forehead') design made their visors exceptionally comfortable to wear.Overall, this visor cap is a beautifully preserved and highly desirable example, combining excellent condition with the distinctive features of a specialist officer's cap — an outstanding addition to any advanced WWII collection.
