Original German WWII Heer Officer's Gebirgsjäger Visor Cap Size 57This is an authentic 'service used' Heer officer's visor cap constructed of fine fieldgray wool with a dark green band. The cap features the classic high peak profile, with green piping along the crown and flanking either side of the band, denoting service in the Gebirgsjäger (Mountain Troop) branch.The exterior wool remains in good condition, showing some staining and minor mothing. Both the eagle insignia and the wreath with cockade retain sharp details, and the silver bullion chin cord remains intact. The chin cord shows some aging and discoloration. The black lacquered visor is intact and shows hardly any cracking and marks.The inside of the cap shows more use and damage -- the satin lining and partial celluloid diamond are in place and show quite a bit of staining and separation. While there is no maker mark, there is a marketing slogan 'Sonder-Klasse'. The size stamp is no longer visible, but the cap measured to be approximately a size 57. The leather sweatband shows some damage and discoloration.Overall, this visor cap is still a nicely preserved example, retaining its original character and displaying some signs of age and use—a nice piece for any advanced WWII collection.
