German Franco-Prussian War Veterans Medal, New York Retailer

Original era manufacture. This well made veterans association medal features a 25x25 mm, enameled Iron Cross, with the letters KDB, GEG 1 OKT 1884 on the obverse. The reverse is maker marked, H.POPPER 10 UNION SQR STERLING SILVER in small letters.Suspended from a gilt brass 19th century style bar with horizontal pin, and a black-white-red silk ribbon.During the 19th and early 20th century, numerous German veteran associations were formed from recent immigrants to the USA. We have several in our own collection. Clean, minor age and wear.
